Welcome to Itanos Municipality Eastern CreteDear visitor.

In order to facilitate your visit in our municipality, Hoteliers Association with the collaboration of Municipal Enterprise and Professional association of Palekastro, issued this guide, complementary,  whishing you a pleasant stay.

Itanos municipality is situated in the eastern end of Crete in a particularly, unique and unspoiled environment.

In this region the nature gave generously her beauties and is full of historical, archaeological, religious and natural monuments.

In the municipality of Itanos are situated the famous palm forest Vai, the monastery Toplu, the 4th Minoan palace and the gorge of Kato Zakros, the ruins of ancient cities Itanos, Eleia and Petsofas, the gorge of Hochlakies and the beautiful graphic villages Karidi, Mitato, Xerolimni in which their inhabitants live with the traditional way.

In this region you will find the most beautiful beaches of Crete, a lot of appreciable paths with big variety of flora and fauna, here you will find the best fresh fish in the fish taverns of Kato Zakros, Hiona, Kouremenos as well as traditional foods with local products in the restaurants of Zakros, Palekastro and Agathias. But beyond from all, you will find, the spontaneous  hospitality of the local residents.
